We noticed that many Christians working in the mainstream media found it difficult and isolating. They ended up either walking away from working in media, or even walking away from their faith. Neither of these options sounded great, so we decided to form a network to get these people connected to support, encourage and inspire each other.
We run occasional events inviting Christian media professionals to get together and we’ve also set up a social networking site just for Salt. If you’re a Christian working in New Zealand’s mainstream media, head to saltmedia.co.nz and sign up to be a part of the network.
CBA gives out three $2,500 scholarships to media students every year. The purpose of these Scholarships is to encourage successful tertiary study in the field of secular broadcasting by young Christian men and women who intend pursuing a career in mainstream media.
The ultimate outcome that is envisaged is that in years to come, more men and women of Christian faith will move into positions of leadership and responsibility in the mass media.

Every second year we promote Media Prayer Day. On this one day we encourage hundreds of churches throughout the country to take a few minutes of their Sunday service to pray for the spread of the Jesus-message through New Zealand's mass media. That's through television, radio, film, electronic media and print. We encourage churches to pray for the following groups of people: 1. Christians who work within NZ's mainstream media - television, radio, print, film, advertising, marketing and electronic media (such as website development). Pray for those with profile and those behind the scenes. 2. Christians producing programming specifically for mainstream media. 3. People of influence within NZ's mass media - presenters, writers and editors, directors, producers and media managers. 4. Media gatekeepers - those who make decisions which give voice to a Christian perspective or prevent an authentic Christian voice from being heard. 5. Christian media - those who work within Christian television, radio, film, electronic media and print. You can find out more at mediaprayerday.com
