Programmes

At CBA we produce a range of award-winning weekly and seasonal programmes for mainstream commercial radio networks. Our primary relationship is with Newstalk ZB. Our short-format seasonal specials are picked up by all sorts of stations including More FM, The Hits, The Breeze and Coast.

Total Recall with Frank and Jax

6-7.30pm, Sundays on Newstalk ZB

Each week our hosts Frank Rtichie and Jax van Buuren launch a talkback conversation from an event this week in history. This allows us to cover all sorts of topics from the frivolous to the sacred.

We don’t always talk explicitly about matters of faith, but our hosts are on the look-out for opportunities to inform and intrigue our listeners about who this Christian God is, and what his heart might be for humanity.

Real Life with John Cowan

7.30-8pm, Sundays on Newstalk ZB

John interviews a different high-profile guest each week. The conversation goes deeper than what they would be known for, exploring our guests’ upbringing, their views on the world, and where appropriate their views on faith.

Quite apart from the testimonies delivered by individual guests, simply having those conversations in the public sphere establishes faith as a core part of many people’s lives that is worthy of further investigation.

Discover this week's guest and listen to past episodes at reallife.net.nz.

Christmas

Since 1996 Newstalk ZB has given CBA at least 12 hours of airtime every Christmas day.

Whilst every Christmas broadcast is unique, we tend to draw on many of the same experienced broadcasters every year like Ian Grant, Petra Bagust, Frank Ritchie, Dayna Vawdrey and Rob Harley.

We’re also always looking to develop younger talent and come up with bold and creative ways to tell the greatest story ever told afresh.

Some of those creative productions have even won local and international radio awards.

Easter

Since 1996 Newstalk ZB has given CBA 12 hours of airtime every Good Friday, typically simulcast on Radio Sport.

Whilst every Easter broadcast is unique, we tend to draw on many of the same experienced broadcasters every year like Rev Frank Ritchie, Petra Bagust and John Cowan.

We’re also always looking to develop younger talent and come up with bold and creative ways to tell the greatest story ever told afresh.

Specials

We provide a range of short-format seasonal and topical specials to radio stations all over the country. These are distributed under our sub-brand ‘Love It Media’.

The aim of Love It Media is to provide uplifting and positive content for NZ radio. Even when the tracks aren’t explicitly “Christian” there’s often an undercurrent of a faith-infused worldview.

Current affairs

Many of the tracks we provide are in response to news and current events.

For example, on the morning of the death of Sir Paul Holmes in 2013, we put together a montage using his interview on Real Life with John Cowan. That same afternoon, radio stations all over the country were playing the track in tribute to the late Sir Paul.

Seasonal offerings

Love It Media provides tracks that add flavour to days such Valentine’s Day, Waitangi Day and Mothers’ Day.

Not every track we provide is explicitly “Christian” in message. In fact they are often completely unrelated to questions of faith. Around Christmas and Easter in particular, we find it makes sense to talk explicitly about the core claims of Christianity.

The “God-o-meter”

Many of the radio announcers, producers and programme directors that we distribute these clips to might be put off by the “Christian” label. We aim to set their minds at ease by including a ‘God-o-meter’ rating of 0-10 for each track. This helps to establish us as high-quality content providers, which means that when a faith topic comes up, our content is trusted and valued.
